The MAFP joined the General Practitioners’ Society and the WONCA Yangon 2021 organizing committee to hold ceremonies for World Family Doctor Day 2019.

Speakers included the Presidents of the Myanmar Medical Council and the Myanmar Medical Association, as well as the Chairman and Vice-President of the MAFP. The ceremony concluded with an open discussion of opportunities to promote Family Medicine and to strengthen the position of primary care doctors in rural settings.

Areas of importance included ensuring a space for Family Medicine within Myanmar’s academic institutions and continuing the process of designing Continuing Professional Development guidelines for doctors across Myanmar.
