MAFP delegates attended the WONCA Asia Pacific Regional Conference 2024

The WONCA Asia Pacific Regional Conference 2024, in conjunction with the Singapore Primary Care Conference, was held from August 21 to 24, 2024, at the Raffles City Convention Center, Singapore.
The academic director of Myanmar Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP), Dr. Mya Win Hnit, and the second-year trainee of the MAFP’s Fellowship Program, Dr. Zin Min Maung, attended the conference in person. Dr. Mya facilitated the activities of the Young Doctors Preconference as an executive member and Dr. Zin also actively participated in the workshops of the preconference on August 21.
On August 22, both of the two MAFP delegates attended the opening ceremony and the keynote plenary session on the “Relationships as Tools for Change”. After that, Dr. Zin attended another plenary session on depression management, the workshop on “The Art and Science of Whole Person Care : Essentials of the Philosophy and Practice of Family Medicine”, and presented his e-poster, “Biopsychosocial Approach to Somatic Symptom Disorder”. Meanwhile, Dr Mya participated in the workshop on “Engaging a New Generation of Learners in Primary-care Medical Education”, and gave an oral presentation, together with three other speakers, on the topic “Initiating Palliative Care and ACP in Primary Care”.
On August 23, the two delegates attended the morning keynote and plenary sessions. Then, Dr. Mya presented his e-poster on the “Evaluation of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Factors Related to Implementing a Practice-Based Family Medicine Training in Myanmar” and participated as one of the two speakers in the “Workshop on Exercise Prescription in Family Practice”. On the same day, Dr. Zin joined the two workshops: “AI and the Artful Acceleration of Your Consultations”, and “Diagnostic Reasoning on Stage”.
On August 24, Dr. Mya presented another e-poster, “Holistic Care to Diabetic Patients with Hard to Heal Wound at Private Primary Care Clinic Specialized in Wound Care”, as a co-author on behalf of the main author. Dr. Zin sat in on the last plenary/ keynote session. Later, the two MAFP delegates attended the closing ceremony together.
At the end of the conference, Dr. Zin Min Maung received the “Academic Director’s Award” directly from Dr. Mya Win Hnit for his excellence academic performance throughout the first year of the MAFP’s fellowship program. The WONCA APR Conference 2024 was the first international experience for the MAFP fellowship trainee, Dr. Zin Min Maung, and he gained a wealth of valuable learning experiences from the conference.
