MAFP SIGNS MOU WITH SHIN KONG HOSPITAL FOR STUDENT TRAINING

The signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Myanmar Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) and Shin Kong Hospital (SKH) took place at the Sule Shangri-la hotel in downtown Yangon. The two parties agreed to cooperate in the field of medical education and research, and also to share the Taiwan medical development experience with Myanmar.

After signing the MoU, the superintendent of Shin Kong Hospital, Prof. Sheng-Mou Hou, delivered welcoming remarks towards the establishment of further collaboration between MAFP and SKH. His comments were followed by remarks from the chairman of MAFP, Dr. Tin Aye, who thanked Shin Kong Hospital and Shin Kong Life Foundation for their support of MAFP and primary care reform in Myanmar.

In the academic session, Dr.S hih-Chun Lin from SKH, a fellow in gastroenterology, presented “Review of Updates on Viral Hepatitis B” which shed the light on the most important changes in Hepatitis B treatment guidelines.

Finally, Dr.Jung-Hui Hsu (Dr.Tin Myo Zaw), a gastroenterologist from SKH, answered questions from MAFP leadership and the audience about upcoming training of Myanmar medical doctors at SKH in Taiwan. Four Myanmar doctors will be selected by MAFP as a first group, and will receive a 12-day medical immersion course this September. The syllabus will include skills training, observations of the Family Medicine residency program and clinical training site administration.
