MAFP and Myanmar General Practitioners’ Society jointly celebrated World Family Doctor Day on May 30 at the auditorium of the Myanmar Medical Association. This is the third celebration in Myanmar since 2015, with the desire to highlight the value of family doctors for the community and national health system.

Prof.Rei Mra, the president of MMA, delivered an opening speech, in which he emphasized the occurence of strong relationships between family doctors and patients. It was followed by Rector Zaw Wai Soe’s talk on the role of family doctors and the updates on development of Family Medicine in Myanmar. Thirdly, Dr.Kyaw Thu presented the history of Myanmar Family Medicine development and the important milestones which have been marked along the course.

After that,Dr.Tin Aye, the Chairman of the MAFP and the Patron of the GPS, expressed his gratitude to the participants and the speakers. Finally, the famous writer and former general practitioner, Ju (Dr.Tin Tin Win) delivered a talk to illustrate the life of the family doctors and the nature of their profession.

This event was participated by MAFP faculty,the alumni of Diploma Family Medicine graduates, the participants of MAFP Faculty Training program and other GPs with family medicine interest.
