MAFP Academic Director and the Team Participated in WONCA APR 2026 in Philippines.
March 23 -26, Iloilo City
The academic director of the Myanmar Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP), Dr. Mya Win Hnit, and the MAFP Fellowship trainees, Dr. Ei Ei Lin, Dr. Lai Yin Win and Dr. Zin Min Maung attended the conference in person. Dr. Mya facilitated the activities of the Young Doctors Preconference as an executive member, and Dr. Ei, Dr. Lai and Dr. Zin also actively participated in the preconference workshops. Dr. Mya also attended the WONCA APR Council meeting as an official observer of Myanmar GP Society on March 24.
On March 25, all of the four MAFP delegates attended the opening ceremony and the keynote plenary session by Prof. Donald Li (WONCA Past President). After that, the MAFP fellowship trainees attended plenary session and symposiums on family medicine practice to promote effective healthcare delivery for the patients, families and communities. Dr.Mya and his international colleagues organized the workshop named as “Achieving essential skills for telemedicine in primary care”, in which Dr. Zin participated.
Dr. Mya was also invited to be a judge for two selected e-posters by the conference organizing committee. Dr. Zin presented his e-poster on the “More than Prescription: Providing Holistic Care to a Socially Isolated Older Woman with Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease”.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ei participated in “The First YDM Knowledge Quest, Medical Trivia Quiz Show” as a Myanmar representative and won the Champion prize. Dr. Lai was recognized as Myanmar representative of the WONCA Women Working Party (Asia Pacific Region). On the same day, Dr. Mya presented his e-poster and participated as a speaker in the workshop organized by Dr. Tin Myo Han (Myanmar representative to WONCA).
On March 27, all the trainees attended the final plenary session “Family physicians as connectors of people, system and culture” where Dr. Mya was one of the speakers. Dr. Mya was privileged to participate in reading out the Iloilo Conference Declaration together with distinguished leaders from WONCA APR. All MAFP delegates attended the closing ceremony together.
The WONCA APR Conference 2026 was the first international experience for the two MAFP fellowship trainees, Dr. Ei Ei Lin and Dr. Lai Yin Win, and they gained a wealth of valuable learning experiences from the conference.
